Never had a bad experience here. Food is always great, and correct. Delivery driver is always pleasant. It took us awhile to find our favorite pizza place after moving to Taunton and now G&S is our go to.
Overview
Walking into G & S Pizzeria And Seafood for the first time, I remember thinking how rare it is to find a place that feels instantly familiar even if youβve never been there before. Sitting comfortably at 199 Weir St, Taunton, MA 02780, United States, this local diner has the kind of atmosphere that regulars talk about in glowing reviews and newcomers quickly understand. The smell of baked dough, simmering sauce, and fresh seafood sets the tone before you even look at the menu.
Over the years, Iβve eaten at plenty of neighborhood pizza spots across Massachusetts, but this one stands out because it doesnβt try to be trendy. Instead, it focuses on doing the basics right. Their pizza crust has that ideal balance of crisp and chew, something food science studies often attribute to proper fermentation time and oven temperature control. According to culinary research published by the American Institute of Baking, consistent dough fermentation improves texture and flavor, and you can taste that attention to detail here with every slice.
The menu is broad without being overwhelming. Youβll find classic cheese and pepperoni pizzas, specialty pies loaded with toppings, and a strong seafood lineup that includes fried clams, shrimp, scallops, and fish plates. On one visit, I ordered the fried haddock dinner, and what impressed me was the lightness of the batter. The fish stayed moist inside while the outside remained crisp, a technique commonly recommended by seafood chefs who follow guidelines from organizations like the National Fisheries Institute on proper oil temperature and breading methods.
What really keeps people coming back, according to many local reviews, is consistency. I spoke with a longtime Taunton resident who said sheβs been ordering from this spot for more than a decade, and the quality hasnβt dipped. That kind of reliability is rare in the restaurant world, where staff changes and rising food costs can affect outcomes. Industry data from the National Restaurant Association shows that consistency is one of the top factors influencing repeat customers, and this place clearly understands that.
Service plays a big role too. Whether youβre dining in or grabbing takeout, the staff tends to move quickly without making you feel rushed. During busy evenings, Iβve noticed how orders are called out clearly and packaged carefully, which matters when youβre transporting hot food home. A soggy pizza or spilled seafood platter can ruin the experience, but that hasnβt been an issue in my experience here.
The seafood selection deserves special mention because not every pizzeria handles seafood well. Proper storage and preparation are essential for safety and flavor. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration emphasizes temperature control and freshness when handling seafood, and the clean taste of the dishes here suggests those standards are taken seriously. That attention builds trust, especially for families who are cautious about where they eat.
Another thing worth noting is how well the portions match the prices. In a time when dining out can feel expensive, this diner still feels approachable. Iβve seen families share large pizzas, couples split seafood platters, and solo diners grab a quick slice and soda without breaking the bank. That balance between value and quality is often mentioned in online reviews, and it aligns with broader consumer trends showing diners prefer straightforward food done well over flashy presentations.
There are, of course, limitations. Seating can feel a bit tight during peak hours, and parking may require patience depending on the time of day. Still, these minor inconveniences donβt outweigh the overall experience. The food arrives hot, the flavors are familiar in the best way, and the place feels rooted in the community.
When people talk about comfort food in Taunton, this diner often comes up, and after multiple visits, itβs easy to see why. From the dependable pizza to the carefully prepared seafood, every part of the experience reflects a place that knows its audience and respects its craft.

Came back for a second time this week because the subs were so fresh and perfectly proportioned, the bread is bomb. Curly fries too
Atmosphere is typical take out pizza shop with everyone waiting and no one eating. Service was slow for called in order for twenty minute pickup. Order wasn't started until after I arrived for pickup. Waited another 20 minutes.
Ok, the food I got there was good for a pretty good price. But it seems like the environment is really left to be questioned. I def was disappointed at the activity that was going on in there that night. I'm was sure that was probably not a typical night. But went back and same thing happened. So really I just hope they know they have a good thing going with the food and can do something about how the staff conducts themselves.
They probably have some of the best chicken fingers ever. And they are always friendly and on time. Love those guys over there!.
